Diagnostic X-ray/Fluoroscopy

An x-ray (radiograph) is a painless medical test that helps physicians diagnose and treat medical conditions. Radiography involves exposing a part of the body using ionizing radiation to produce pictures of the inside of the body. X-rays can be used to visualize bones for fractures, locate foreign objects, or evaluate changes in bones due to a disease or condition.  They are also used to evaluate the gastrointestinal tract, kidneys (IVP), and most commonly the chest.  In order to prepare for an x-ray exam you may be asked to remove some or all of your clothing and wear a gown.  Also, you may be required to remove jewelry, eyeglasses or other objects that may interfere with the images.

You must alert the technologist if you may be pregnant!
