Physical, Occupational and Speech Therapy
TCLMH Rehab Department has a dedicated team that consists of Physical Therapists, Certified Physical Therapy Assistants, Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant, and a Rehab Aide. An agency company provides TCLMH with an Occupational Therapist and Speech Language Therapist. This team of therapists work towards reaching patient goals of improving strength, mobility, and function with less pain. The rehab department helps many individuals with the following diagnoses but not limited to:
- Joint replacements – pre/post op
- Orthopedic post-surgical
- Balance disorders
- Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo - BPPV
- Sprains/Strains/post-fracture
- Neck/Back Pain
- Chronic pain
- General weakness/deconditioning
- Neurological Rehab – CVA, Parkinsons, MS
- Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
Physical Therapy:
Physical therapists are movement experts that team with physical therapist assistants to treat people from all ages including infants to geriatrics. The physical therapy team helps people avoid surgery maximize mobility, manage pain and chronic conditions, and improve physical function and fitness. Physical therapy provided during a hospital stay is geared towards helping patients improve strength and mobility so they can return home safely and independently. The physical therapy department also visits Trego Community High School once a week to screen the athletes with injuries and provide sports medicine care.
Occupational Therapy:
Occupational therapy helps patients of all ages who have physical, sensory, or cognitive problems. Occupational therapy helps patients participate in life activities more independently with the use of adaptive equipment, education, and training. Occupational Therapy sees patients in the hospital and on an out-patient basis.
Speech Therapy:
Speech Therapy is the assessment and treatment of communication problems, speech disorders and swallowing difficulties. Speech therapy helps to improve language skills, use of voice, language comprehension, fluency, clarity and expression, swallowing techniques/strength. An agency provides a Speech therapist at TCLMH for inpatients and outpatients.
Direct Access:
TCLMH does see out-patients in Physical Therapy through direct access.
